DESPONDENCE is a coming-of-age psychological drama following Andrés, a seventeen-year-old boy desperate to escape a life defined by illness, abuse, and the fear of being left behind. Chasing a better life, he gets lost along the way and loses the only support he had. Andrés embarks on an uncertain journey west, where he meets another person in a similar situation to him. As the two search for freedom and a new beginning, Andrés slowly learns that no matter how far you run, grief… and the people you leave behind, are never as far away as they seem.

Because it’s a true story. The names of the people involved have been changed for privacy reasons and the respective parties safety. Sebastián heard this story and knew that it had to get out there and people had to know about it. With consent from the involved parties, what better way to do that than one of the most impactful forms of art, film.
